Brunswick Makes Gift, Urges Other Towns to Support

On December 4, the Brunswick Town Council unanimously approved an allocation of $200,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to Tedford Housing’s Capital Campaign to build its new emergency housing facility.

Before the vote Councilor Dan Ankeles said, “I hope that other towns see the media coverage of this. And I hope that all the municipal governments around the region are watching. Because this will be your resource center too….I hope you will see what we are doing here, and I hope you will join us.”

Meanwhile, a proposed contribution of $50,000 in ARPA funds is under consideration by the Town of Harpswell’s Budget Advisory Committee. If recommended, that allocation would be decided by voters in March. And in Freeport, at the Town Council’s December 5 meeting Tedford reiterated its invitation to Town Councilors to attend a Tedford event for Freeport-area stakeholders in January. Discussions with several other towns are ongoing in advance of formal proposals.

Heartfelt thanks to the Brunswick Town Council and staff for their leadership!
